St. Mary's Hospital
The remodeling of St. Mary’s Hospital and Regional Medical center served to reduce stress for patients and visitors entering the hospital. The goal was achieved through improved aesthetics, acoustics, ergonomics and an innovative wayfinding program using Tandus Flooring’s innovative floorcovering, Powerbond.
Designers Blythe Design + Co. and Aesthetics, Inc., designed a wayfinding system using Powerbond, a hybrid resilient sheet flooring. The easy installation of the closed-cell cushion and chemically welded seams allowed for creative inlays to create a unique wayfinding system that facilitates quick and easy guidance throughout the hospital.
The installation took place with little or no disruptions to the patients or the staff and the Powerbond floorcovering provides underfoot comfort, sound absorption, thermal insulation, reduces the risk of slip/fall accidents, and reduces glare from overhead lighting. Overall, a quiet, the installation attributed to a calm and improved healing environment for St. Mary’s.
